L’équilibre Précaire
**L’équilibre Précaire** is a work that explores various forms of balance. It alludes to the often-spectacular balance of the artists on stilts, with a nod to the time of the Stilt Walkers of Baie-Saint-Paul. The two stilts, standing in balance on the ring, symbolize the elevated vision of the founders of Cirque du Soleil, who developed an organization while never losing sight of the spark of imagination that guided their first steps. The immense metal ring is precariously placed at an angle on a horizontal surface shaped like a sun carved from granite. This ring symbolizes the Earth on which we live and its precarious balance as well. The work is completed by a quote from David Suzuki, inscribed on the surface of this stone sun: “The power each of us holds over the future of the Earth.”
